The legacy continues...

The legacy continues as Jim Hautman wins another Federal Duck Stamp Contest.

Licensed wildlife artist, Jim Hautman of the famed Hautman Brothers took home another first place in the prestigious Federal Duck Stamp Competition held this year at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia on September 10, 2016.

Hautman’s acrylic painting of Canada geese is Jim’s fifth Federal Duck Stamp Contest win, tying him with older brother Joe who won last year’s contest (and who had to sit-out this year due to contest rules prohibiting winners from entering for three years). Jim’s brother Bob finished third among 152 entries from around the country.

The cornerstone of one of the world’s most successful conservation programs and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; roughly $25 million is raised each year toward conserving wetland habitats.

“I congratulate James Hautman on his win” says Deputy Director Steve Guertin. “Duck Stamps have helped to protect more than six and a half million acres of waterfowl habitat in our National Wildlife Refuge System – now that is a lasting legacy.”

The Hautman Brothers, represented by MHS Licensing, have over 65 licensees in products ranging from greeting cards to furniture. They have long established themselves as America’s foremost family of wildlife artists, parlaying that reputation into a highly successful licensing program.

In addition to hundreds of products, the three brothers have seen their art featured on over 50 state and federal conservation stamps including 12 Federal Duck Stamps over the past 26 years. The Hautman Brothers are so dominant in what is considered the ultimate prize in wildlife art that their talents were noted in a subplot of the Oscar-winning movie Fargo. Both the book The Wild Duck Chase and documentary The Million Dollar Duck which aired on the Animal Planet, prominently feature the Hautman Brothers while they explore the unique world of competitive duck painting.
