Patrick Reid O’Brien a hit at the 2011 Summer Shows

The market has reacted very strongly to MHS Licensing’s newest properties introduced at the 2011 Surtex and Licensing Shows. “There was a tremendous buzz surrounding these new properties, specifically artist Patrick Reid O’Brien,” says Marty Segelbaum, President of MHS Licensing. “It’s still too early to gauge the overall success of the show, but it’s encouraging to see the number of proposals already on my desk for Patrick’s work. Manufacturers of categories such as tabletop, kitchen textiles, stationery and home decor all showed a very strong interest in his unique skill.

Patrick’s potential was immediately apparent when MHS Licensing first saw his “My Town Art” collection. “His early success with very little effort in licensing is proof that there is a demand for his artwork in the marketplace.” Segelbaum continues, “Whether on product or at a summer art show, people really respond to the fond memories emanating from his work. My bet is that retailers will too.”

Nationally acclaimed American artist, Patrick Reid O’Brien’s big break came when he was commissioned to create art specifically depicting the lyrics of Buffett’s songs for the Margaritaville lifestyle brand. Like a Jimmy Buffett song, Patrick’s art connects with people on a very personal level and provides a little more happiness in their lives… a beach where they grew up, the town they lived in after college, a honeymoon getaway, or even a favorite pet. Nostalgic, warm, colorful, and fun are all words used to describe his memorable work.
